Oooh, okay, festivids is live. Oh yes. A few quick recs from my initial run through:

I had to split my old Miscellaneous Fandoms List in two, because it had finally grown too big for LJ to handle. This is part II of the new list, with smaller fandoms that I've only written a handful of stories or less for.

Fandoms include: Blake's 7, Tin Man, Doctor Who, Sapphire & Steel, Neverending Story, Babylon 5, the Valois Romances, the Mummy movie series, Brimstone, the Pretender, Moulin Rouge, SGA, Tron Legacy, Wild Wild West (TV), Looney Tunes, Arsenic and Old Lace, Glass Books of the Dream Eaters, The Queen's Thief, The Pagemaster, The Magnificent Seven (TV), Dark City, L.A. Confidential, Haven (TV), Chess (musical), Saiyuki (manga), The Last Unicorn, the Vorkosigan Saga, Inception, Ouran High School Host Club (anime), the James Asher series (Barbara Hambly), Airwolf (TV), The A-Team (TV), RED (movie), Lewis (TV), Pacific Rim (2013), Once Upon A Time (TV), Alias Smith & Jones (TV), The Musketeers (2014), Penny Dreadful (2014), Team Fortress 2, Nirvana in Fire/Lang Ya Bang (TV), Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974), the Miike Snow 'Genghis Khan' Music Video, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), The Fantastic Journey (1977), and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (movies). Phew!

I had to break my fandom masterlist into two because it was finally too big for LJ to handle. So. Part the First, Larger Fandoms. Fandoms I've written a good handful of fics for as follows:

Highlander, Dresden Files, Pirates of the Caribbean, Discworld, Star Trek, The Labyrinth, Sherlock Holmes, Person of Interest, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Rise of the Guardians, Girl Genius, Fairytales, Mythology, The Librarian/The Librarians, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, Fallout 4, The Flash/Legends of Tomorrow (TV), and Critical Role.

This is a surprisingly long story for me, for a canon I only rewatched recently and which a lot of people seem to despise. Heh. However, a) I really enjoy this movie, shite as it is in places, b) I really love Nemo, and c) I really ship these three. Two, three. So. Have eight thousand odd words as a result of my recent rewatch?

Title: Promises Sweet
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003, Movie)
Characters/Pairings: Dr. Henry Jekyll, Edward Hyde, Captain Nemo, mention of Allan Quatermain, Ishmael and the League. Jekyll/Hyde/Nemo
Summary: In Mongolia, after the wounded have been tended and the bodies of the dead brought back aboard the Nautilus, Henry and Edward wander the ship, lost and confused by their own reactions. It's Nemo who finds them, and Nemo who brings them home and finds a sort of peace for the three of them to share
Wordcount: 8347
Warnings/Notes: Right, um. Pre-epilogue, aftermath, canonical character death. Grief, shock, confusion. Multiple personalities, mental issues, Hyde being Hyde. Comfort, companionship, attraction, complicated relationships. Decisions, sharing a bed. No sex. Hopeful ending?

( Feb. 1st, 2016 10:23 pm)
Part 3 of the gay supervillain fic. In which we deal with fair treatment of henchmen and a wee bit of supervillain backstory. I swear I'm not obsessed with this vid. Honestly I'm not.

Title: On Finances and Private Vengeances
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Genghis Khan Music Video - Miike Snow
Characters/Pairings: Michael White (Secret Agent), Sphinx (Supervillain), Jeremy Anders (Henchman), Subramanyam (Scientist). Michael/Sphinx
Summary: Michael marvels at how Sphinx bases operate, and the subjects of money and personal vengeance take an unexpected turn
Wordcount: 3368
Warnings/Notes: Um. Supervillains. As in lasers and casual talk of murdering people. Also romance, and fair treatment of henchmen. Because.
Disclaimer: Not mine

Part two of the gay supervillain fic. For [livejournal.com profile] oneiriad, who wanted the serious conversation part of the whole 'defecting to be a supervillain's lover' thing. Um. Hope it turned out okay.

Title: Life's Practicalities
Rating: PG
Fandom: Genghis Khan Music Video - Miike Snow
Characters/Pairings: Michael White (Secret Agent), Sphinx (Supervillain), Jeremy Anders (Henchman). Michael/Sphinx
Summary: Dances of romance are all very well, but when you're changing your whole life, some serious conversations have to be had as well. Though, you know. A little romance goes a long way in those as well.
Wordcount: 3730
Warnings/Notes: Supervillains, secret agents, 60s style government/agency homophobia, serious discussions, relationship negotiation, hopeful ending
Disclaimer: Not mine

This music video is the most adorable thing ever. Um. I don't know if Secret Agent Man and Mr Supervillain have official names, I just made these ones up out of whole cloth. I just really wanted something about this vid. It's amazing.

Title: Pas de Deux
Rating: PG
Fandom: Genghis Khan Music Video - Miike Snow
Characters/Pairings: Michael White (Secret Agent), Sphinx (Supervillain), Henchmen. Michael/Sphinx
Summary: Lying shackled beneath a laser by a dancing supervillain who says he loves you gives a man a chance for some self-reflection. And, maybe, a little bit more than that
Wordcount: 2276
Warnings/Notes: Secret agents, supervillains, capture, lasers, attraction, internal conflict, 1960s, homosexuality, pretending to be straight, self-acceptance, requited love, freedom, hopeful ending
Disclaimer: Not mine

A couple of microfics for [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic:

DCAU, Clark/J'onn, Jewel

Earth looked like a jewel from space. A turquoise or a chrysocolla, shining blue-green in the darkness. A new home, shared together after loss, and all the more precious for it. J'onn watched it, Clark's arm warm and easy around his shoulders, and knew himself loved, contented, and at peace.

Dogma, Metatron & Bethany, Consolation

"What was that for?" he asked, bemused, as she pulled back from the hug. It had been a bit sudden, she allowed. Not that sudden, though. She remembered kind words and a coat when she needed them most.

"For being there," she answered simply, and enjoyed it as he smiled.

Okay, so when I said I wanted some Kronos & Grost fanfic, I was being serious. I have no idea how many people have even seen this movie, and given that there’s no AO3 category for it I’m guessing there’s not much of a fandom. I just wanted a little something post-movie regardless, though. So I wrote it. Heh.

Title: Morning Truths
Rating: PG
Fandom: Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974)
Characters/Pairings: Hieronymus Grost, Captain Kronos. Slightly slashy Grost & Kronos
Summary: Two days after the destruction of Dr. Marcus' vampires, Hieronymus Grost wakes up with his head pillowed in his friend's lap and struggles to face the day without embarrassing himself further. Kronos, for his part, saw nothing embarrassing at all
Wordcount: 1396
Warnings/Notes: POST-MOVIE, vampires, aftermath, sleep, mornings, aches & pains, comfort, companionship, friendship/love, continuing on
Disclaimer: Not mine

Um. This is another video game I haven't played, and another canon I don't entirely know. A friend on tumblr had a lot of posts recently about Nick Valentine, though, and ... well. Battered film noir robot detective in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. This is relevant to my interests on a couple of levels, yes? So I watched some things on youtube, and read some things, and browsed the kink meme, and then I came across this prompt. I have such a thing for this. The throat, the vulnerability, the trust. So. Yes. Ah. I wrote a thing? My apologies in advance.

Title: The Ragged Edge
Rating: Light R
Fandom: Fallout 4
Characters/Pairings: (Male) Sole Survivor, Nick Valentine. Nick/M!SS
Summary: There are times when the Sole Survivor cannot help thinking about that gaping tear in Nick's throat. The vulnerability of it, how much it shows he's been hurt, how much ... how much trust he must have to let anyone near it. How much trust he must have to let Sole near it. Though, admittedly, Sole hadn't expected that part. Not at all.
Wordcount: 2962
Warnings/Notes: Okay. Robot/android anatomy, scars, old injuries, offering a throat, vulnerability, trust, demonstration of trust, some intensity, declaration of feelings
Disclaimer: Very much not mine

I went on a mild Roddy McDowall kick following Legend of Hell House (in between my ghost story kick, I mean), and I ended up watching all 10 episodes of a cancelled 70s show called The Fantastic Journey (said 10 episodes being here on youtube).

It is ... It's kind of amazingly shite, like throw the worst episodes of Trek TOS, Blake's 7 and Logan's Run together, that kind of shite, and the special effects are gloriously terrible when they're not just terrible-terrible instead (there is one episode, it's damn near actually good, except for a truly dire 'spectral voice' effect for one possessed character that had me going WHY?! at the screen every time he opened his mouth). A bunch of people whose ships/spaceships/aircraft disappeared in places like the Bermuda Triangle end up on a strange interdimensional island divided into separate time periods, and try to figure out a way back off again. The main cast include a telepathic guy from the future, a young doctor from the 70s, a scientist's kid played by Ike Eisenmann, and then later a telepathic Atlantean/alien lady and Roddy McDowall's 60s 'rebel scientist' who starts out as a villain. The plots are a bit hackneyed, the characterisation wobbles around the place for a couple of characters, the cast switched around more than once in only ten episodes, and as stated previously the special effects vary from cheesy-bad to actual dire.

... I sort of love it. Which is bad, because there is ZERO fanfic, and I want some. Particularly, and I'm sorry to be cliched about it, but I kind of want Fred/Jonathan slash (they've a bit of Spock/McCoy vibe, okay?), and maybe Jonathan/Varian fallout from that Funhouse episode. It's not likely to happen, however :(

This is the problem with discovering old TV shows. It really is. Heh.
1) Stop watching ghost stories, self. You're the girl who screamed at Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, remember? Quit freaking yourself out.

2) M.R. James wrote some freaky stuff. I'm watching a BBC adaptation of his A View From A Hill. Thank you for filling my house with quiet breathing/rustling noises and a sense that ghosts are stalking me, thanks so much for that.

3) PUT DOWN THE CURSED BLOODY OBJECT YOU NINCOMPOOP! Seriously, what is with people in ghost stories? Yes, by all means sleep with the binoculars that make you see things that aren't there in your bedroom, absolutely that's a good plan. Hang the haunted doorknocker on your front door. Wander around dark woods with cursed ghost-summoning objects all by your lonesome. What is wrong with you people?! Does no one in horror stories have the smallest sense of self-preservation?

4) Seriously, I gotta stop watching these things. I'm gonna be sleeping with the lights on at this rate. It's just sort of addictive, that's all.
I have been watching horror movies/series the past couple of days. This is always an uncertain venture for me, because I am BAD at horror movies, or at least ghost movies, I get scared ridiculously easily. Only with ghosts, for some reason, anything that's a physical threat isn't half as scary to me, which common sense would say should be the other way around. Anyway. I've been giving a few of them a go anyway. I rather like Legend of Hell House (1973), actually. I do like paranormal investigation stories.

The one I'm on now, though, a 2008 BBC miniseries called Crooked House. It's pretty good too, it's just the third episode. Look, love. You've just been told that this door knocker is a relic of the most spectacularly haunted house in Christendom, you've spent a couple of hours being regaled with tales of gruesome goings-on there across the centuries, why the flying fuck would you bring said door knocker home and hang it on your front door?!? That is literally asking to be haunted. I mean, I know people in horror movies never know they're in horror movies, but there is such a thing as tempting fate, my love. If you have to bring it home, at least don't bloody hang the thing on the door waiting to be used, now matter what the creepy museum keeper says.

(Okay, it turns out later in a nice twist ending that he was gonna end up in the supernatural shithouse no matter what he did, but still. Don't go bloomin' hanging it on your door after being told it's haunted, what is wrong with you?)

You know when you’re skimming across a list of things, and your brain randomly smushes some of them together? I was skimming across a playlist, and my brain randomly smushed ‘Empty Chairs at Empty Tables’ from Les Mis with ‘Terror Time’ from Scooby Doo on Zombie Island.

“Empty chairs at empty tables, rotting faces full of slime … wait, what?”
“Now my friends are dead and gone, don’t you know it’s terror time?”

Zombie outbreak at the barricades? Marius the vengeful Necromancer? Are you thinking what I’m thinking, Pinky? I don’t know, Brain, go back to sleep. Or drink more coffee, one or the other. Yeesh.
I don't play the game, but someone who does showed me all the 'Meet The Team' videos, and this has been niggling at me ever since 'Meet the Medic'. It is, please pardon the language, fucked up beyond belief. I have never written anything like this before, and I sort of don't know what to do with it. So. Ah. Warnings in advance, heed all the warnings, and I'm so very sorry.

Title: The Tell-Tale Heart
Rating: HARD R
Fandom: Team Fortress 2
Characters/Pairings: Heavy, Medic, Heavy/Medic
Summary: "Do you know ze first time I saw my own heart, Heavy?" Medic offers Heavy an utterly horrifying demonstration of adoration, as only Medic can
Wordcount: 4015
Warnings/Notes: GORE, BODY HORROR, MEDICAL EXPERIMENTATION, MEDICAL TORTURE. Backstory, World War II, mention of the camps. Horror, romance, love, declarations of love.
Disclaimer: God, not mine.

Again, written for the Obscure & British Commentfest 2015. The prompt wanted Other Elements from S&S. I thought that Bismuth might be cool: Symbol [Bi], diamagnetic (meaning can levitate in a magnetic field), low thermal conductivity (insulator), beside Lead in the periodic table, silver-white but oxidises with a spectacular multi-hued iridescent sheen. So. Lead's punk-styled void-travelling sister (levitation + insulation = telekinetic spaceship)? That works, right?

I also figured I'd put it as a solution to Assignment #6, because why not?

Title: A Happy Irregularity
Rating: PG
Fandom: Sapphire and Steel
Characters/Pairings: Steel, Sapphire, Silver, Bismuth (OC). Primarily Steel & Sapphire & Silver, with Lead & Bismuth siblinghood mentioned
Summary: Better late than never. In the aftermath of Assignment #6, Silver comes to the rescue, with a little help
Wordcount: 812
Warnings/Notes: Rescue fic, fix-it (spoilers) for Assignment #6, other S&S elements
Disclaimer: Not mine

For this prompt on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic: "The Rock Biter + family, It's good to have them back, but he still has nightmares about losing them to the Nothing". That scene in the movie, 'they look like good, strong hands', broke my heart. I remember bawling at it as a kid, that and Artax. But. Ahem. I'm using elements from both the book (names, mostly, though there seem to be at least three different spellings for the English version of Vooshvazool) and the movies (that scene, the wife and son). I also gave the wife a random name, because I couldn't find her original one, if she had one? Sorry for the mess, really. Heh.

Title: Companions in Adversity
Rating: PG
Fandom: The Neverending Story (mostly movies)
Characters/Pairings: Rock Biter's wife, Pyornkrachzark|Rock Biter, Vooshvazool|Nighthob, Gluckuk|Tiny, Rock Biter Junior, mention of Atreyu
Summary: There are still scars left by the Nothing, though the Empress has been named and Fantasia is whole once more. In the aftermath, one Rock Biter watches as her husband, her family and her friends slowly begin to heal
Wordcount: 1145
Warnings/Notes: Discussion of nightmares, PTSD, healing, recovery, but happy ending
Disclaimer: Not mine

I saw a conversation about this movie recently and it reminded me how much I always sort of shipped these two. I'm kind of surprised by the dearth of the pairing, actually. Then again, I guess canon did put a rather abrupt and permanent crimp in the possibility -_-;

Title: Got A Gunmetal Shine
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: L.A. Confidential (1997)
Characters/Pairings: Jack Vincennes, Ed Exley. Jack/Ed
Summary: Jack likes Ed's glasses, actually. It's nice to see something that isn't part of the prescribed image. He likes more than just the glasses, truth be told. Too bad the liking's probably going to get him killed
Wordcount: 1878
Warnings/Notes: Doomed relationship, 1950s attitudes to homosexuality, noir canon, written in present tense
Disclaimer: Not mine

Not festivids. My sister sent me a link to this last night/this morning, and I've been in tears every goddamn time I've watched since. Thanks for that. I showed my parents, and they've been in tears since. And I thought I'd share the ... I don't even know. Misery/love/grief/joy/emotion?

So. Have Carl & Ellie's story from Pixar's UP set to Alan Jackson's 'Remember When': Remember When

You're all welcome.
