Title: Beloved Enemy of Peace
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Star Trek: The Original Series
Characters/Pairings: Spock, Leonard McCoy, Spock/McCoy
Summary: Passion is the enemy of peace. Passion shatters and overpowers. There are times, though, there are people and other, nameless things, that can make surrender to it worth it
Wordcount: 2146
Warnings/Notes: Established relationship, post-coital, panic attacks, passion, overwhelming, telepathy, touch, grounding, love
Disclaimer: Not mine

Um. This is a story that I've been trying to write for years, because "Mirror Mirror" and what these two in particular went through during it always affected me. This means, however, that it's something of an idfic, shameless emotional angst and h/c, and I apologise in advance. Also includes references to events during "Space Seed".

Title: Fool's Hopes and Friendship
Rating: Light R
Fandom: Star Trek: The Original Series
Characters/Pairings: Leonard McCoy, Nyota Uhura, mention of Spock, Sulu, Mirror!Spock and Mirror!Sulu
Summary: In the aftermath of "Mirror Mirror", McCoy and Uhura realise that they're having trouble, and come together to pull each other through the tangles of what happened in the mirror universe
Wordcount: 3578
Warnings/Notes: Tags to "Mirror Mirror" and "Space Seed", discussion of attempted/threatened non-con, nonconsensual mind melds, guilt and shame. Also emotional hurt/comfort, friendship, recovery, and a hopeful ending.
Disclaimer: Not mine

Things I'd forgotten watching the TOS episode "Mirror Mirror" again:

I've been meaning to do a proper TOS crew daemon AU, where humans have daemons but many aliens don't, but it kept not working for me. Except, oddly, for these two. So. Here you go?

Title: Sarek and the Firebird
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Trek: the Original Series
Characters/Pairings: Sarek, Amanda Grayson, Sarek/Amanda
Summary: A daemon was an embodied soul, a katra given voice and form and left to walk outside its owner. Sarek found that such a strange and alien idea, even still. And yet, despite that, he could not help but find her beautiful, this human woman and her peacock soul
Wordcount: 2329
Warnings/Notes: AU, daemon AU, interspecies relationship, alien cultural differences, romance, marriage proposals

icarus_chained: lurid original bookcover for fantomas, cropped (McCoy Spock)
( Aug. 7th, 2014 11:13 pm)
Or, well, Spock realising he loves McCoy fic, anyway. Yes, once again, this is set in the aftermath of "All Our Yesterdays". Um. It's a great episode for these two? Hinted and/or vague references to other episodes as well. And to warn in advance, this is purely Spock struggling with his feelings, thorny as they are when it comes to McCoy, so have some Vulcan soul-searching and not much else? *grins sheepishly* My apologies.

Title: The Ask and the Answer
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Trek: The Original Series
Characters/Pairings: Spock, thinking of McCoy and Zarabeth. Spock/McCoy
Summary: "Are you trying to kill me, Spock? Is that what you really want?" Spock had never considered what he wanted from the doctor, until McCoy had asked him and suddenly he was faced with answering. In the aftermath of Sarpeidon, he struggles to understand his own response and what it might mean
Wordcount: 2400
Warnings/Notes: Um. Pain, fear, hope, incredibly thorny relationships. Introspection, self-analysis, realisation of love
Disclaimer: Not mine.

Written for a prompt on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic, on a theme of rebirth. Um. Contains references to beliefs that I only have shaky knowledge of at best, to warn you in advance. And I'm not sure I agree with Khan, it just seemed like this would be close to what he believed, given both "Space Seed" and "Wrath of Khan"?

Title: Samsara
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Trek TOS
Characters/Pairings: Khan Noonien Singh
Summary: Khan did not believe in karma. He believed in action and in strength, in hell and in vengeance. What costs he paid were not his own, but those imposed upon him. To his last breath, he believed that
Wordcount: 715
Warnings/Notes: I'm basing the discussion of karma and samsara (rebirth) in this solely on some quick research on Wikipedia. So, you know, take that with a HUGE grain of salt, and anyone with a better understanding of the concepts feel free to inform/correct me? *ducks sheepishly*

Samsara )
Written for a prompt on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic for McCoy 1st person POV. Set during "Encounter at Farpoint", because that scene kills me every time.

Title: Shuttle Conductor
Rating: G
Fandom: Star Trek TOS & Star Trek TNG
Characters/Pairings: Admiral McCoy, Commander Data. McCoy & Data, touch of McCoy & Spock
Summary: Commander Data and Admiral McCoy have a little conversation about insanity, humanity, and the unintended consequences of space travel while waiting for McCoy's shuttle off the Enterprise D
Wordcount: 1328
Warnings/Notes: Old age, nostalgia, memories
Disclaimer: Not mine

Okay. This starts off as a coda to "The Empath", after McCoy offers himself to be tortured to death instead of the other two. For the purpose of this story, I'm pretending "Requiem for Methuselah" took place before "The Empath", yes? The second half of the fic takes place after the end of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

Title: Soul's Rest, Soul's Excitement
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Trek TOS and the TOS movies
Characters/Pairings: Spock, McCoy, a little Kirk. Spock & McCoy, Spock/McCoy, Spock/McCoy/Kirk
Summary: After one attempted sacrifice too many, Spock and McCoy forge an understanding of what lies between them. Years and a rebirth later, that understanding is revisited, older and wiser, and expressed for the first time to Jim
Wordcount: 4506
Warnings/Notes: Friendship/love, self-sacrifice, death & rebirth, discussion of platonic and romantic loves & the variations between, mind melds, psychic links, and a threeway relationship with slightly different loves along each axis
Disclaimer: Not mine

I'm rewatching Star Trek TOS again (as people have probably noticed), and I was rewatching "The Immunity Syndrome" last night. And something struck me about the conversation between Spock and McCoy before Spock heads out in the shuttle.

For a prompt on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic for the time travel theme. The prompt was for characters from a futuristic fandom to meet characters from a historic one, because time travel, and I couldn't resist.

Title: The Curse of Jim
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Trek: TOS, Wild Wild West (TV)
Characters/Pairings: Leonard McCoy, James T. Kirk, Artemus Gordon, James West. Kirk & McCoy, Jim & Artie
Summary: Time portals, concussions, trans-temporal alliances, and the perpetual foolhardiness of men named Jim. Kirk & McCoy make the acquaintance of Messirs James West and Artemus Gordon
Wordcount: 1568
Warnings/Notes: Concussions, berserker Vikings, grumpy doctors, humour

Okay, so, this awesome Star Trek vid just went up, and it is the best thing ever, so I had to rec it straight away:

Long Live by cosmic_llin (Star Trek, All Series)

This is my favourite Star Trek vid on the face of this or any planet. It's ... It starts with TOS, and then through tiny moments of individual connection starts to trace it's way up through the whole universe, then moves to favourite moments, and then hands the torch on to the newest Treks. From around the line "the end of a decade, the start of an age", I was nothing but a cooing, happy mess. Every time I watched it. It is the Trek vid, I swear to gods and warp engines. TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, a touch of ENT and AOS. Everything.

And then, since I was recommending vids, I figured I'd go through the favourites again. Here's another nine vids from various fandoms:

I was watching TOS last night, and fic happened. Set in the aftermath of "All Our Yesterdays", otherwise known as the episode in which Spock & McCoy are stuck 5000 years in a planet's past, Spock begins to revert to his more savage Vulcan ancestors, and McCoy deliberately prods him into almost strangling the doctor to death to make him realise this. There were times when McCoy showed a distinct lack of survival instinct -_-;

Title: Courage of Conviction
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Trek: The Original Series
Characters/Pairings: McCoy, Spock, mention of Jim and Zarabeth. Spock & McCoy
Summary: In the aftermath of Sarpeidon, Spock and McCoy have a conversation about McCoy's tendency to prod Spock into excess emotionality and why that really mightn't end well. McCoy understands that, he does, but that doesn't mean he thinks he ought to back down
Wordcount: 4099
Warnings/Notes: Emotional h/c, fear, past violence, loss of control, sacrifice, protectiveness, friendship/love. Set after "All Our Yesterdays", references "Amok Time", "Mirror Mirror" and "The Empath", with fleeting references to "Plato's Stepchildren" and "Journey to Babel". No, I don't have a list of episodes with awesome Spock/McCoy moments, why do you ask?

For today's [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic theme. All 6 or 12 word ficlets. Um. Mostly 12.

Discworld, Vetinari, Ticking Clock

Irregularity is a state of mind. He doesn't flinch at disordered time.

Fairy Tales, Ariel/Cinderella, Shattered Glass Slippers

Ariel's limp worsens. Ella kneels, to slip whole glass onto tortured feet.

Highlander, Methos, Ultimate Pragmatist

"We eat our enemies' life-force, MacLeod. Cannibalism will hardly damn us faster."

MCU, Natasha, Truth

Truth isn't complicated, it's just rare.

Star Trek: TOS, Scotty, Working Miracles

Physics be damned, he's got God's own cheat sheet. Her name's Enterprise.

The Musketeers, Athos/d'Artagnan, Wanting

He's been burned by want before. D'Artagnan is too impetuous to care.
So I wrote a continuation of Crash-courses in Therianthropy -_-; Bit of a darker tone on this one, given McCoy's backstory as a wolf, and I'm possibly messing around with Len's timeline a bit? I'm not sure on the dates of his divorce relative to his starting Starfleet and/or his mercy killing his father. *shrugs sheepishly*

Title: Golden Monsters
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Star Trek: the Original Series
Characters/Pairings: Leonard McCoy, Pavel Chekov, mention of Nyota Uhura, Hikaru Sulu, Jim Kirk and Spock. McCoy & Chekov, McCoy & Uhura, touch of Pavel/Hikaru still
Summary: McCoy sits Chekov down and explains some of the facts of their new universe to him. Including how Len himself came to be a werewolf, and why that ain't ever happening to anyone else on this ship, no matter what Len has to do to ensure it
Wordcount: 5068
Warnings/Notes: Um. Kidnapping, forced transformation, pack dynamics, fight to the death, escape, finding family, protectiveness of the occasionally homicidal sort?
Disclaimer: Not mine

For this prompt on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic: "Keep me away from the General Public for the next ten minutes and nobody gets hurt." For some reason, Len and Christine popped into mind -_-;

Title: Service with a Smile
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Star Trek: the Original Series
Characters/Pairings: Leonard McCoy, Christine Chapel, unnamed OC. Len & Christine
Summary: Dr. Leonard H. McCoy was a cranky bastard and the scariest person in Sickbay, that was common knowledge. Everyone knew it. One of these days, though, people were gonna learn better. And judging by the expression on Christine's face, today might well be that day
Wordcount: 1973
Warnings/Notes: Harassment, ranting, embarrassing medical problems, possibly dubious medical ethics (of the 'hyposprays in uncomfortable places' style) -_-;
Disclaimer: Not mine

I'm kinda loopy and exhausted today, mostly because of the Staircase Incident in work today. I've been moved to the sister site this week, new people and new place and new rules, and I'm always a little stupid for the first couple of days. So this morning, I got handed a sweeping brush, a hand brush and a dustpan, and asked to sweep the old staircase (three storey, old, really tight spiral staircase). And I said okay, because it's just sweeping, you know, it'll be easy.

Um. Anyway. Have a random Trek gifset that I just saw on tumblr (I don't actually know how to navigate tumblr, I just see images there sometimes): Kirk, this is why you gotta fill out the log. For your TOS/TNG giggles, yes?

*shakes head, wanders off* Oi. I need to sleep.
Written for a prompt on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic, and it's been forever since I tried writing Star Trek. Any Star Trek. So, ah, this may be complete shit, is what I'm saying?

Title: Crash-courses in Therianthropy
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Star Trek: TOS
Characters/Pairings: Leonard McCoy, Pavel Chekov, Hikaru Sulu, Nyota Uhura, mention of Jim and Spock. McCoy & Uhura, McCoy & Chekov, hinted Pavel/Hikaru
Summary: Leonard McCoy always hated shore leave, waiting for the next bloody idiot to come back broke up when half of sickbay were busy getting smashed on Andorian ale planetside. When Pavel Chekov came back from shore leave with bite-wounds and a condition that threatened to endanger a whole sub-community on the Enterprise, he considered that hatred well-justified
Wordcount: 4110
Warnings/Notes: Alternate Universe. Were-creatures. Secrecy, violence, turning.
Disclaimer: Not mine.

I'm rewatching some ST:TOS episodes because I woke up this morning choking to death and trying to claw my own face off (hayfever, it gets me bad sometimes), so I needed something comforting. And I ended up watching "The Naked Time", in which several of the crew are infected by an alien disinhibitor and begin to act out parts of their personalities that they would usually struggle with and try to repress.

And the thing I noticed was that, while Kirk was struggling with fear about his ability to command, and Spock was struggling with his deep grief about his hybrid heritage and its costs, and Chapel was struggling with unrequited love, and some random Irish one-off character was struggling with the desire to take over the ship, what was the part of Sulu's personality that he apparently spends most of his time trying to tone down?

The desire to run around as a knight errant, shirtless and with a sword, fighting for honour and saving fair maidens.

So ... Sulu basically spends his life trying to tone down the urge to be shirtless and awesome and having the time of his life playing with pointy objects?

Sulu is the best. And okay, I'm a bit brain-fried right now from having spent the morning in a huddle of misery around a pile of tissues, but I think this is a legitimate conclusion to come to. Sulu is basically the best ever.

Okay. I haven't actually seen the movie, but I accidentally ran into some spoilers for the new Star Trek: Into Darkness. And okay, I'm not that hot on the reboot universe anyway, but this ...
