Star Drabble

Random piece of nonsense that wandered into my head. I'm in a strange mood.

Title:  We Had Stars
Wordcount:  98 (really a drabble)

The stars were there, you know, for a while. There were stars, and we drank and dreamed, and they watched us as we fell. We had stars, and they were diamond bright, and the nights were cold for our delight.

But stars fade. Stars die, slower than ever we could, but still. They died, and there was no-one to watch over us as we slept, and the nights withered into years, and nothing passed that we did not mourn. But we had hearts like stars, and soon even they were dead.

We were hollow, and the stars were gone.
