I just saw Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind for the first time, due to my sister's relentless quest to convert the entire family to loving Studio Ghibli films (which I don't necessarily disagree with). The odd thing was ... seeing as how I'm arachnophobic, and creeped out by insects in general ... I did not have a freakout watching the rampaging insects. I mean ... wow. That should have scared the living crap out of me, but I actually enjoyed it. Very much. Huh.
Now, granted, if I actually met a giant bug the size of a zeppelin ... I would probably die. Even the babies, the little ones, dog-sized ones ... that's a dog-sized bug. *shudders* But in the film ... they were oddly beautiful, in a giant, rampaging insect kinda way ...
Ah, right. Shutting up, now. Great film, y'all! Even the bugs.
