Spent the day clearing a violently overgrown garden. I wield a mean spade. Heh.
There were things down there that the blades of the shears simply wouldn't cut through. We had to dig those out. Hence the spade (though spades are also fabulous for slashing and chopping). Spade for the tough shit, like the briars and the four foot thistles and the head-height weeds, shears and a sickle for the matted grass, then finally through with the mower and strimmers. Five person job, and we only got half of it done in the afternoon we had (well, half done properly, we got the bad stuff out all the way down). It's, um, potholed from where we had to dig roots out, the grass is only trimmed to the half-way point, but on the bright side, you can see and walk all the way down relatively unscathed, and there is no longer a small forest of people-sized plants bristling threateningly at you. Heh.
We're going to need to continue/redo when we get the weather back. But, all in all, not a bad day's work, no? *smiles exhaustedly*
Downside, though, is that my already cut-up feet are ... um. Not well. Fully protected, under boots, but they ache like hell.
Still. Good day's work.
