Approaches to Writing
My sisters and I discussing writing, in order of optimism to increasing pragmatism:
Me, in a fit of optimism: I use words I think are appropriate!
Sister 1, more pragmatically: I use words I know the meaning of!
Sister 2, flatly: I use words I can spell.
There's just ... something appealing about the raw practicality of that. *grins* Because yes, occasionally I'm using words I know from contexts, not ones I've looked up the actual meaning for, and occasionally I can't for the life of me remember how to spell things like 'irrelevant' - usually words with pre- or suffixes added, now that I look at it. They go funny on me -_-'
