Regarding this Marvel engagement rings tumblr post, in which it gives the ring each superhero would get you. I, ah, disagree somewhat.
See, I could see these being marketed by in-universe jewellers as 'the engagement ring ~insert superhero~ would buy you', but I really can't see most of them as the ring the actual person would buy someone they loved. Especially, I gotta say it, especially Steve. I can't see him buying that particular monstrosity for anyone.

This is the guy who was born in working class Brooklyn the tail end of the 1910s, who grew up during the Great Depression when jewelled engagement rings were at their all time low, who went to war just as DeBeers was getting into it's multi-year campaign to bring diamonds back as the engagement stone of choice. A campaign that didn't really show true success until the post-war period, 1947's 'a diamond is forever', after Steve was already asleep. He's probably the last person there who'd have the 'bigger the better' mindset, and something gaudy like that, that trumpets the red-white-and-blue and reeks of 'I'm marrying Captain America!' would probably seem really false and empty to him. It's just ... it's not something I could see him buying someone he loved.
If I had to bet with Steve ... He could go one of two ways. He could go for something older, Edwardian maybe, something his parents might have had if they could afford it. Or, I'd say, he'd go for a modern design, but something much simpler. A single stone, diamond for purity and permanence (if he's caught up on the modern symbolism), or maybe a trinity of stones. (If he was early 20th century working class Irish, the trinity might have a particular subliminal appeal). Something like that. He'd go for simplicity, elegance and feeling, a promise in stone and metal. Basically, something closer to the Bucky ring above. Maybe something in a warmer-coloured metal, but I think he'd be flexible on that, depending on the person he was giving it to. I just think he'd want something that felt more real, a promise from Steve instead of Captain America.
I'm not sure of a lot of these, actually. They all feel a bit ... they're all based on the superhero identity rather than the person. Well, Thor and Loki, maybe not, they could just see it as a human custom where you give your loved one a thematic stone ring and/or your seal. (Also, those two rings are actually nice. Asgardians have taste in jewellry, apparently). The others, not so much. Bruce giving somebody something in the Hulk's colours ... well, not impossible, but that'd probably have a slightly more bitter tinge of meaning from him.
Though Tony might give someone that ring. It might be something he'd do. If he gave it to Pepper, especially, she might allow it as well. It could be read as an echo, in that case, of 'proof that Tony Stark has a heart', and this time he's giving it to her. It'd be something of a double entendre ring, a ring that the public would read as 'hah, my girl's marrying Iron Man!' but Tony and Pepper would read as a reference to something older and secret and more meaningful between them. Huh. I kind of like that idea now, actually.
Anyway. That was more random thought than anyone wanted or needed on a Marvel engagement ring post. Apologies, and we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
