Homecoming
He woke, slowly, ponderously, the weight of aeons falling from him as eyes as deep as black holes blinked sleepily out into the universe. The void shuddered slightly as he stirred, the stars shaking in the firmament as they felt his waking, the little things flaring in childish delight. He smiled at them instinctively, absently noting the bright newcomers, feeling the ginger greeting of old friends, now diminished. He whispered silently back to them, a whispy tendril of power and energy to brush against them, to give them a little something back. They jumped in joy, flaring and quivering, and for a second measured in years, the universe was that little bit brighter.
He blinked again, shaking his great head as he sought the reason for his waking. The darkness of the void opened like a flower around him, layers unfolding gently around a center, revealing to him what he desired, what he had felt inside his dreams. The universe parted softly around his sight, and his smile became deep as his eyes found her.
His little sister turned sedately above him, her great arms trailing through the void in bright, beautiful lines, her stars fierce and proud from her heart to the very ends of her limbs. She shone in the void, a vibrant swirl of life, so small and yet so powerful. His heart ached at the sight, exploding with a joy that was raw and elemental. She drifted a little nearer, her heart pulsing in greeting, and he reached out helplessly to embrace her, laughing as she laughed. Drifting gently in sync, their silent murmuring whispering through the void, they reached out to each other, just the brush of matter, the faint mingling of stars and gas and self, a reunion aeons in the making.
The universe turned, the void whispered, and eyes as deep as time shone with joy as, finally, the siblings drifted back into each other's arms.
