Azkadellia. That was her name. The name she had been given at birth. Her true name.

Not Sorceress. Not Witch. Not Queen. Though she'd fought to be all of them, pushed and pulled by manipulations and her own desire, at her core she still remembered being only Azkadellia, DG's sister. No matter how deep the witch grew inside her, no matter how many lives she devoured, she always remembered who she was. Azkadellia. Not the others.

Not Azkadee, either. Another name assigned to her by another. For some reason, though, she found it hard to fight that one, found it hard to ignore and discard as she had all the others.

Maybe it was because it was the only one not offered in hate. Maybe it was because whenever he called her by it, she'd turn to correct him, and see only the zipper. Maybe it was because he said it with such a strange smile, half friendly headcased stranger, and half knowing friend. Maybe it was because she could never tell quite what he meant by it, only that while it did tease, it was not meant to truly hurt.

Maybe it was simply that he seemed more whole when he said it.

"Azkadee!" Glitch cried.

And she answered.

Oh. Oh.

This sort of struck me in my heart, just ... I love the idea of how all she has left is her name, and here, Glitch offers her another, the chance to be someone else.

I'm so fond of Az and Glitch, and I love how you write them.

Thank you so much.
