Mythology:
01 - I've been interested in and adored mythology ever since my granddad started giving me books after I had joined the library and proven my ability to appreciate them ;) He started out giving me greek and egyptian myths, which I devoured, followed that up with some Irish ones on the prompting of my mother, and from there I found my own way through the myths of the world. I love them all, from the ancient soap opera that was Greek myth, to the strange flavours of Egyptian, to my longstanding love-affair with Norse, to the fascinating world of eastern myths, to Native American, to bloody Aztec and Mayan, to the impossibly complex layers of Hindu myths ... point me in any direction, and I'll gladly go!
02 - To be honest, I wasn't aware there was a fandom, as such, but I believe I will always write myth-fic if asked (and even if not), and there's no way I'm ever going to stop reading and hearing and loving them.
03 - Oh. Um. How long do you have?
Greek Myth - Hades and Persephone. Ever and always, that story. Also, Perseus, Odysseus, Hermes, Hephaestus, the various escapades of Zeus and Hera ... um. Does all of it count?
Egyptian - Set, Osirus and Isis, their whole story.
Irish - I love Manannan Mac Lir. The story of Nuada Airgetlam (silverhand). The Tuatha De Danann and their war with the Formori. Diarmuid and Grainne, the tragic love story.
Norse - Loki. Anything and everything. Fenrir and Tyr, in the story of Fenrir's binding. How Thor and Loki got Mjollnir back, for laughs. Odin and the Worldtree.
Hindu - the various creation myths. Kali's birth.
04 - I write the occasional fic, and will write more. I love discussing the myths, and have been know to argue vehemently over them. I tend to jump down the throats of anyone who writes Loki off as 'evil', for example. Same with Anubis, because he was just a god with a shitty job, not evil. Set, on the other hand, although Chaos is not necessarily evil ... Anyway!
DC Comics -
01 - I was a long time coming to this fandom. I've loved Batman since forever, having grown up watching TAS. Then I lost interest for a while, until Justice League came on, in Irish, and we used to spend weekend mornings testing our meagre Irish understanding it, and succeeded to such an extent that when once we saw it in English, it took us five minutes to realise that it wasn't Irish. I still think Justice League passed me my Irish exam ... Anyway, after that I started getting Batman comics, scrounging 2nd hands for anything else I could get (Ireland is crap for comics), and online found jl_fic and worlds_finest ... the rest is history, really.
02 - If I had a greater investment in actual current canon, it's possible I would have already moved on. As it is, however, I'm perfectly content to while away the hours with AU's and my own headcanon until such a time as someone forcibly throws me out. I have waned a bit, I'll admit (or a lot), but that's more writing in general, and the fact that although DC was my introduction to online fandom in general, I have a flist that allows me really broad horizons as far as fandom goes, so I don't have to limit myself to one or two.
03 - Gah! Its hard to me to cite specifics, as its more the characters themselves I love, rather than stories. But ... 'I can't believe it's not the Justice League' was my intro to JLI, and I love it. 'Obsidian Age' and 'Rock of Ages' for JLA trades. 'Hush' was the first Batman trade I managed to get my hands on. Then lots and lots of random snippets on scans_daily.
04 - Hmm. Do I write DC fic? Let me think, now ... *grin*
Babylon 5 -
01 - I was a latecomer to Bab5, in that I never actually saw it on TV at all. I bounced to a couple of clips by link-hopping on youtube, got interested, and over the course of one summer blew all my cash buying the season boxsets, except for season 5, which I still have not seen. Season one cemented the whole thing, by introducing me to ... well, everyone, and the construction of the series finished the deal. I like series that have a concrete story to follow, instead of running endlessly for as long as they can get away with it (though it depends on the series, really). Fandom-wise, I wrote 'Against the Dawn', and that was about it. I've not really written a lot in the fandom, though I've read lots. Mostly Centauri-Narn, though Ivanova and the telepaths are cool too.
02 - Since I only flirt with the fandom, I don't think there's too much of a question of my leaving it. It's one of those things that I'll go through phases of devouring fic, fall away for a while, and come back in half a year to devour more.
03 - 'Midnight on the Firing Line', for persuading me to go with this whole thing. 'The War Prayer'. 'Grail'. 'A Voice in the Wilderness'. 'Geometry of Shadows'. 'Soul Mates', a thousand times over. 'Sic Transit Vir'. 'Falling Towards Apothesis' and 'The Long Night'. Um. Anything with Londo, G'Kar, Vir, Ivanova or Marcus, really.
04 - As I said, mostly a fic here or there, when the mood strikes me or I'm asked. I don't do much in the way of discussion, because B5 tends to be very arguable and I'd have to rewatch so I could be sure of acquitting myself well. *grin* I used to be a debator. Old instincts.
