Top Five Plots I Like To Use For Original Stories:
Generally, whatever seems to fit the characters and world, but I do have some favs ;)
1 - I love Enemy Mine type plots, where deadly enemies have to work together for survival or a united cause. I think this is because it lets me play with characters of equal honour and 'goodness', but often opposing ideologies. This is one I love reading, too. I just love the plot.
2 - I'm very, very fond of the 'alien outsider' plot, where someone slightly Other is viewing more 'normal' events/people. I love writing from that kind of POV, see. Whether they are genuinely alien, or fae, or just a person with a different culture/outlook on life, I love exploring how they would see what most would consider normal.
3 - I love, oddly enough, writing about the loss of someone dear to the protagonist. Perhaps 'love' is the wrong word. But the flavours and tones of grief, nostalgia, catharsis and peace, the journey through them, is something that gives me great satisfaction to explore.
4 - Ever since I was a kid reading Jules Verne, I adore having characters exploring strange new worlds. Just painting those vast pictures through their eyes. Has to be adventure, though, with maybe a flavour of romance. The worlds aren't there just to be *looked* at. It's a story, not a tourist guide, after all. High adventure, that's the way for me!
5 - I love writing about families. Not just blood families, but teams that grow into families, and friendships that run just that deep. I love the weight of joining between characters in a family, love and trust, maybe with lots of disfunction thrown in, because heaven knows few families are perfect, but ... I just love the bonds you get with family.
Top Five Holmes Slash Plots I'd Like To See:
1 - I would really, really love to see some fallout from Reichenback and Mary's death. Because, I'm sorry, no matter how much I loved him, if I'd been Watson I'd've clocked Holmes when he pulled that little reappearing stunt. I grieved for you, you moron! Do you really think you can just walk back in like nothing happened?! *huffs* I love Holmes, but the man is a moron when it comes to Watson.
2 - I would love, love, love some Lestrade getting love. I love reading those stories. I love Lestrade! For some reason, though, I like seeing him as with *both* Holmes and Watson, like a little family. *shrugs* Sue me.
3 - I would really love for stories with less ... well, sex. Sorry. I'm a romantic. I love romance, and the sense of family that Holmes and Watson and Mrs Hudson had at 221B, and the quiet evening of their lives. I'd love to see them old, and quiet, and together.
4 - I'm probably going to hell for it, but I'd love something with a woman and Holmes and Watson, all together. Maybe Mary. Maybe someone new. Probably not Irene, because while I'm positive she'd be up for it, I'm not so sure Holmes would, but if someone could make it work I would so read it.
5 - Ahem. I'd love to see Mycroft showing up, and knowing, and Watson's bright red flush of terror while the Holmeses snicker in the corner. Because Mycroft *would*, and Sherlock is still so dim when it comes to Watson. *pats him*
Top Five Moments On Babylon 5:
In no particular order. Some grand, some silly.
1 - "Now, landing thrusters.. landing thrusters, hmm. Now if I were a landing thruster, which one of these would I be?
*grin* I love Londo.
2 - All of the episode 'Soul Mates'. Timov is the best character *ever*!
3 - "I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I'd look up at your lifeless eyes and wave like this. Can you and your associates arrange it for me, Mr. Morden?"
Go Vir!
4 - "I am a Ranger. We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge and no-one may pass. We live for the One, we die for the One."
Go Marcus!
5 - "Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova, Commander, daughter of Andrei and Sophie Ivanov. I am the right hand of vengeance, and the boot that is going to kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth ... I am Death incarnate, and the last living thing that you are ever going to see. God sent me."
And GO IVANOVA!
Top Five Movies I Would Take To A Desert Island:
1 - Best Seller: My ultimate comfort movie. Don't ask me why. I just relax when I watch it. Nice, simple 80's cops and killers, two people who work together while hating each other, and that ending. Love.
2 - Arsenic And Old Lace: For sheer laughs. Black humour you just can't get anymore, macabre and riotous. Best comedy *ever*.
3 - Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Noir, cartoons, wacky plot, hell of a femme fatale ... what more could you want? Peggy Lee songs, laughs and a lovely touch of romance. I adore this movie.
4 - Enemy Mine: Possibly my fav sci-fi film of all time. I love the themes, I love the adventure, but mostly I love Davidge and Jeriba and Zammis.
5 - Castle of Cagliostro: Miyazaki and Lupin III. Honestly. What more do you want? Capers and colours and fun.
