Okay. Allowing for the fact that the arc reactor (the chest one) isn't consistently explained at all, and doesn't make that much sense, but ... Um. Yinsen says it's powering an electromagnet holding the shrapnel in place inside his chest. But ... wouldn't that mean it's holding the shrapnel in place relative to the magnet? One, single, fixed-position magnet? Um. What about all the stuff inside a human chest that, you know, moves. Like, for example, the ribcage the magnet seems to be set on. Which flexes when he breathes. Um. Shouldn't it be gently sawing the shards back and forth every time he breathes?
*blinks* I know nothing about either magnets or procedures for internal shrapnel, but ... something seems vaguely wrong with that scenario, to me. Holding metal shards static inside a body that moves around them. *shrugs*
