And state-of-me is not, at the moment, particularly good. Oi. *rubs face* This has been one of the worst few weeks in a long time, between the search, and a few family events that needn't be specified, and just ... basic exhaustion and stress on the homefront.
I've also been getting a weird sense of fandom disconnect, because my new major fandom is Avengers, and most of that fandom's activity seems to be over on AO3, so a lot of my focus has been there lately, but ... AO3 is an archive, rather than a community, and I kinda miss the more personal, ranged connection I'm used to here on LJ. *shrugs vaguely*
That said, I know I've been ... weird and distant, I think, lately. Again, homefront. *points up* Ugh. I'm just not ... firing properly, right now.
And, since this is apparently going to be a complaining post (feel free to ignore and/or tell me to shut up - *smiles faintly*), I find I'm really not used to writing in this large of a fandom. *shrugs vaguely* I probably should not post up so many small ficlets/prompt ficlets/concept sketches, I know, but it seems sometimes that every other comment is basically "Write more!". Which is nice, but, um, probably not feasible. *ducks sheepishly* I feel a little beleaguered sometimes. And I know, it's my own fault, a) for the fandom and b) for the way I write, but ...
Sometimes I wonder how frustrating people find my writing. Snips and snatches, and random fragments of things, and occasional longer fics. *smiles sheepishly* Unfortunately, that's kind of what you need to expect, with me. *shrugs, ducks*
*shakes head* Oi. I'm maudlin tonight. And tired. And stressed. And fritzy. And I don't even know. Complaining, ignore as required, yes?
On the upside, I found a couple shows lately:
One, most people probably won't remember: the 1970 ITV series UFO. The one with the purple wigs, the appalling 70s fashions, the mysterious aliens, and the surprisingly dark and engaging storylines. And Straker. I adore Straker. Most of the episodes are up on Youtube, so I've been having some fun watching those. Heh.
The second is the new series Grimm, of which I've seen a few early S1 episodes. I like the procedural aspect to it, the way (at least in the early half of the series) the crimes are still treated like crimes, and not just monster hunts. *smiles* I also like Nick, Hank, Monroe, and perhaps surprisingly Nick/Juliette, though I'm not sure at this point how long that can be expected to last. Heh.
So. Um. That's me right now. Bitty, spotty, disconnected, and attracted to random passing things. Heh. *smiles faintly* Wow. Sometimes, you know, I don't even know.
