Okay, so I'm finally caught up on Once Upon A Time. *grins* Went through all 13 episodes in a few days. Which is perhaps odd, because it's not the best show ever. It just ... pushed some happy buttons? *grins*

Okay. So. Favourite characters are ... mostly the Fairytale versions, but that's probably just my bias at work -_-; Though Storybrooke!Archie is actually pretty damn awesome, and Emma herself is also really cool. And Graham, Graham, honey, I loved you so much. You poor twisted boy, you.

First, though, minor reaction to the most recent ep, which I've just finished:
Prince Charming? Awesomesauce and all things wonderful. David? Is a dick! For fuck's sake. You were breaking up with her anyway. You couldn't have grown a set and told her why? She asked you flat out. I swear, I felt kinda sorry for him a lot, stuck between two loves that he believed were real, but the moment she asked if him something was going on, and he said 'No', I just ... Yeah. No. Go jump in a lake, you lying dick. You don't deserve either of them. And definitely not Kathryn. Who, by the way? Was awesome. (Well, okay, the audience know that telling Regina she was leaving wasn't a good plan, that was kinda stupid, but she didn't know that, so). Going to Boston, telling them they belonged together (genuinely), and planning to get your life back? Go girl!

And Abigail! Abigail was awesome! So, to be fair, was Prince Charming. I loved the whole "You're suicidal, you realise this?", "Yeah, so?" thing, and the "If I come back, your pain is ended. If I don't, mine is." Because it was awesome and heartbreaking and sweet.

And Abigail not being able to free him with a kiss because he was in full armour at the time. *smiles, squiggles them* I mean, having the visor up in battle is a no-no, definitely, but. So horrible. He's right there, and she can't help him. And also? Poor Midas. The kid saved his life, his daughter adores him beyond reason, and because of his gift/curse, Midas accidentally destroys the lives of two people he loves.

Going back to the series as a whole, rather than just that ep ... Okay. Trickster bias ahoy! I love Rumpelstiltskin/Mr Gold. *grins* Well. I was always going to. The fact that he's Robert Carlyle is just icing. I'm just ... Okay. Between the gambit it's obvious he was playing in the Forest from the first two episodes, to the gambits he's running in Storybrooke throughout the series, I'm ... kinda rooting for him. Because ... he could see the future. Every action we've seen him perform so far, even the despicable ones, seem to have been aiming for some final solution involving the Curse (anyone else find it curious that the Dark Curse not only wiped clean the problems from the Forest (such as, oh, the Ogre Wars?), but also brought back a lot of the people who died in the Forest (Charming, possibly Belle depending on whether Queen was actually telling the truth)? And Rumpel can see the future. Curious ...), but ... aside from his kidnap of Belle (which was straight up wrong, even if he was lonely), almost all the evil things he's done seem to have either been geared at setting up the situation for the curse, or pretty much what the wisher actually asked for (or taking horrible, vicious revenge on the man who tried to hurt his son). Makes me wonder ... I'm leaning more towards trickster than evil, though he's twisted to hell with it.

I'm just ... The moment Regina pulls out Belle, that's going to go so, sooo badly.

And the rest! Henry ... Henry took way, waaay too much from his adoptive mother, I think. Kid's got a manipulative streak a mile wide. Emma, though, Emma is kinda awesome. Screwed up, but kinda awesome. And Storybrooke!Archie, one of the few people so far who's been threatened directly by Regina, and told her to jump in a lake anyway. Well done, that man.

And Graham. I ... He broke my heart. Both Fairytale and Storybrooke versions. I wanted to adopt him, and keep him safe, and stab the Queen/Regina in the head. And yeah, I really, really hope the Huntsman's fate didn't end up in Henry's book, because ... 10 years old is not the age to be introduced to the concept of sex slavery and murder. And Graham came to Henry for help, literally right before he died, and believed Henry, and was pretty much killed for it. That, and for saying 'no' to a woman who doesn't like to be disobeyed. Gods, though, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter broke me to pieces.

Also? Just a random aside? For a fairytale-based show, a surprising amount of the people being forced into relationships/marriages are the men.

Regina, though? She needs to die. Between Snow, Charming, Rumpel, Huntsman, the Genie, Belle, Kathryn ... *smiles* I love my villains straight-up evil, but the woman has a hell of a list of broken lives following her.

Um. So. Overall ... I kinda love this show. Yes, it's corny and cheesy and occasionally not very well written, but ... *smiles, shrugs* Characters, plus fairytales, plus a Trickster. Hello happy times. *grins*

Seriously though? David is a dick.
