Heart of Darkness

In brief? Snow and Charming spent the ep being awesome. Red spent her two odd minutes of this ep being ridiculously awesome (I kinda love that the survivors who capture Charming are bearing scars - Red does not fuck around). Emma spent the ep being heartbreaking, and possibly very, very unwise (honey, that kind of desperation never ends well, especially when it's him). David ... I understand, honey, but oh, oh, that's not going to end well. Mary Margaret also spent the ep being heartbreaking and unwise. Regina ... Could you hammer the point home any more forcibly? But well done, woman, admittedly. I hate your guts, but hat's off. Henry spent the ep being ... possibly a force of raw chaos, considering the things he's setting in motion, unwittingly or otherwise (I'm going to guess it was Regina, not Henry, who was responsible for Mary Margaret at the end, and Henry's just how Emma's going to figure it out. If I'm wrong about this ... well, that's not going to end well -_-;) The Dwarves were also, pretty uniformly, awesome.

And then ... Rumpel/Gold. Holy shit. I'm not sure if the balance of power is shifting back towards him, or if it was always there and we're just starting to realise it again, because as aces-in-the-hole go? Rumpel has been sitting on a WHOPPER the whole goddamn time. And now he has active forces swinging his way again.

This ep would have ... appeared to kick things into high gear. *grins* Regina has a lot of aces left (Belle, for one), but may have overextended herself. Mary Margaret has just done something very unwise. Emma has also done something desperate and dangerous, but she's also closer to the truth, and actively in the game now. Henry is doing shit (and August, what the hell are you up to, by the way?). And Gold ... It was obvious from the first two eps that they've all been playing his game, but this ...

I don't even know who to root for (well, not Regina, but after that it's open field). I just ... kind of love that the show put all these forces in one tiny plot, and set them off to see what would happen. *grins fiercely* At least three active and aware (well, aware-ish, in Emma's case) forces, and any number of other characters making their own moves around them. It's awesome.

... Yeah. I liked this episode. *grins* Can you tell?
