Right. So. I am sort of, maybe, thinking about expanding Vision in Green/Vision in Blue into a 'verse.

Before I do this, I am aware that I've at least one other verse (All the Way Down) in progress, and a couple of other stories that should probably be continued. However, I am tentatively considering putting them aside for the moment for this one.

The reason for this is that I thought I might use the story as a sort of experiment, with that strangest of writing techniques as far as I am concerned: planning.

*rubs face* I'm not good at long fics. I'm pretty sure there is no-one reading this who is unaware of this. Chaptered fics don't tend to work out so well for me (Wind At Midnight being the only one I successfully completed), and series also tend to be somewhat hit-and-miss (although the Nigel&Nikola series came to 25,000 plus words, and was completed, and both Deus Ex and Tony & Bruce hit around the 10,000 mark and were completed).

I figured I might try the Noir/Prohibition AU as something close to Nigel&Nikola, a rather more structured version of a series/'verse. And, um, basically I intend to cheat, and pick a structure that'll hopefully allow me to finish it -_-;

So. I have a rough plan for around 12 stories (maybe one or two more or less, it's not 100% fixed yet), including the two already written. Each of those stories is going to be basically one conversation/interaction/meeting/encounter between various of the main cast, which will hopefully allow me to draw a picture of various relationships as well as an overarching plot developing through them. Some will be longer than others (some will probably be very short), depending on the interaction in question, but ... Yeah. Mostly they'll be single scenes/events.

The theory I'm working on is that Nigel & Nikola was probably my most successful series (in terms of getting it written, and keeping it structured, anyway), mostly because the stories were self-contained, but followed a pattern - various periods in the lives of the two main characters - so they had a direction. With this, I'm trying to adjust the model a little. By keeping each of the stories as a self-contained scene/interaction, with the larger shape predefined but room for some manoeuvering within the individual stories, I'm hoping I can basically trick myself into writing one long story as a bunch of self-contained ones. *grins faintly* And by having an overarcing structure to follow, I'm hoping I won't trail off in confusion the way I did with Weregild, and seem to be periodically doing with All the Way Down.

[I'm picking this particular story because noir/prohibition pushes my buttons, and fitting the characters into that kind of milieu is interesting enough that it has a pretty good chance to holding me to the end (noir is one of my go-to genres/styles). Also, I just like Tony Stark as a prohibition gangster. *smiles faintly*]

Essentially, I am attempting to cheat my own brain. Because, apparently, sometimes you gotta. But. Moving to the request part of this post:

This is far, far more organisation than I'm used to with my writing. And I am not sure if it's going to work. However, I would quite like it to, because a little more reliability might be nice for all concerned -_-; To that end ...

If I posted up a tentative 'verse masterlist/outline, including the planned stories, and started working through them, would people be willing to a) keep an eye on me while I attempted it (and maybe helping with the planning-the-overall-arc part), b) be patient while I figured out if it would work or not, and c) not mind that I'm dropping all other longer 'verses/fic until it's done (I'll probably still be doing one-shots around it, but nothing longer)?

Keeping in mind that I can't actually guarantee that I'll be able to finish it, because I'm all but allergic to commitment, at least when it comes to fic. *ducks sheepishly* But. Keeping in mind that it's an experiment. Would people mind helping me out, or being patient until it was done?

*ducks worriedly* Seriously. This is the first time in my life I've attempted to plan a story in advance. I have no idea if this will work or not. So. *smiles tentatively*
