Okay. I haven't actually seen the movie, but I accidentally ran into some spoilers for the new Star Trek: Into Darkness. And okay, I'm not that hot on the reboot universe anyway, but this ...
Benedict Cumberbatch is supposed to be KHAN?!? What? What? What the flying fuck, seriously?
... NO. Actual no. I haven't seen the movie, I don't care about seeing the movie, I don't care if it's the most gifted performance ever put on screen. No. Khan was ... Khan was ... seriously, how many things are wrong with that? Just the implications for the eugenics wars, for a start. What? Why the hell ... Why?
Khan is probably the single most iconic villain of the Star Trek universe, from the single most iconic movie in the franchise. Khan is charismatic, lethal, damaged and powerful. Khan is iconic. And you cast Benedict Cumberbatch? I mean, nothing against the guy, he's a damn good actor, but no way in fucking hell is he Khan.
I don't even know why I hate this so much. Seriously, I don't know. I've never had this visceral a reaction to a casting decision in my life. But, but, Khan. Why? Why would you do that? What?
I don't actually care. I've never had a casting decision make me write off an entire universe, but ... but no. I actually don't care. Reboot Trek can go now. Why would you do that? Just ... no. I'm really not having this.
And, wow. Vehement. Sorry. Not even sure why. But still. Not having that, no.
