Okay. I am now caught up with S2 of The Librarians, at least so far. Couple of quick reactions:

- I still deeply, deeply adore Jenkins, and I'm loving the little hints of backstory we're getting: danced at the Cotton Club (Prohibition!Jenkins?!), danced naked on a stage once, pals with Oscar Wilde for a bit (!), less happily has been severely tortured multiple times in a very long life (I need h/c Jenkins fic STAT). Him commiserating with Stone about shitty fathers (does Stone know who Jenkins is talking about there? Does he know he's met Jenkins' dad? We didn't get all that much S1 fallout this season). Also, he is adorably supportive and protective towards the LITs and Eve in particular and I love it. More Jenkins. All the Jenkins. I adore that man.

- I also still deeply, deeply adore Ezekiel and Eve. Quite possibly because of the competence!porn they both produce in spades. Ezekiel, that little detail with hacking a retinal scanner manufacturer in advance and thus having a free pass to around 600 galleries around the globe with one break-in. Gods I love people who are good at their jobs (even if said jobs are, you know, rather morally questionable). Also, 'The Point of Salvation' is amazing for him. It really, really is. And Eve, I'm also loving the little snippets of her backstory (she played Lady MacBeth in the school play, I love it), and her still-developing relationships with the LITs, and her flirting with Moriarty is ... actually, I think I'm liking it. Helps that he's nicer than usual. Which leads to ...

- Moriarty! Interesting take on him, I loved his 'runners vs builders' speech to Eve, and he's been fabulously charming and mildly heroic in places. Which. Interesting. Also ... is it bad that when Prospero pulled out the Complete Sherlock Holmes, I knew exactly which story he'd opened it on? Though, they could have picked a better one. 'Dancing Men' has sod all to do with Moriarty. (I know, I know, the whole book gets emptied to make the Fictional, it just might have been cooler if he'd opened it on 'Final Problem').

- Prospero ... not who I'd have picked for a Shakespeare character so iconic and powerful that he could walk out of his pages by himself. I mean, I know they needed a magician to match the show, but still. If people are picking an iconic character from Shakespeare, I don't think he's going to be the first to come to mind. I don't think he's even in the top ten. Still, he's the guy, so I'll run with it. Heh.

- Flynn is bugging me this season. I know he's meant to be, and I actually know how he feels very, very well and I'd probably be very similar if I was him, but still. The running is annoying, as is the show constantly putting him on the back burner. Also! That episode with the Library, 'The Hollow Men', I was very annoyed that they named and talked about Judson and Charlene but didn't mention what happened to them. Especially considering that, you know, the guy doing said talking would know. That bugged me, but that's mostly because I want Charlene to come back. (Also, Jenkins back-up plan this episode. OH. *hugs the man* I adore him, I really, really, really do).

- Random detail, but I love John de Lancie as a devil. Hee! I knew him the second he showed up on screen, even across the street. I'd know that mug anywhere. Also, him and Jenkins and that conversation over champagne, that was lovely (incorruptible Jenkins as every devil's dream target, that's not potential-laden at all). Also his face when Eve makes her 'wish'. I enjoyed that episode so much, and possibly not for the intended reasons. Heh.

- Cassandra and Stone are both growing on me a lot more this season. Cassandra's interactions with Eve and Jenkins, her gently pushing Stone into living the truth, Stone's development around that. Stone making Chupacabra jerky with Jenkins. The teamness of them all. I love it. Also, randomly, Cassandra is reading more than a little gay this season. I mean, she was last season as well (Prince Charming and Alt!Lamia, anyone), but with Lucy, and drunk!flirting with Eve, it's definitely still there this season as well. Is that just me?

- The Fictionals plotline doesn't have the same oomph the Dulaque one did last season. I'm liking the hints of larger conflicts around it, though, the effects of magic coming back that it's symptomatic of, Cassandra and the Ladies of the Lake (!! are we talking Arthurian here? Jenkins' adoptive grandma, perhaps?), the running debates about how to deal with it now that magic is de facto out of the bag and the Library might not be able to coop it up anymore. Those I'm liking. Though, here's hoping the finale puts a little of the oomph back for Prospero's plans.

In summary? It's probably fairly obvious that I love this show mostly for Jenkins, Eve and Ezekiel, but I'm liking the building of a larger mythology again, a bigger debate waiting to unfold about the Library's purpose and future. I really want them to shit or get off the pot when it comes to Flynn, though. Flynn, Judson, Charlene. The switch-over from movies to show isn't going smoothly and it is starting to bug me.

In the meantime, though? Aaaalllllllll the Jenkins fic, please. Also Ezekiel h/c, after 'Point of Salvation' I really want it. Jenkins & Eve friendship fic, that too. I might be persuaded by Eve/Moriarty fic as well, depending on what happens in the last two episodes. And all the Jenkins backstory fics (Prohibition! Oscar Wilde!), or Jenkins h/c about, say, devils wanting a piece of him or the bunch of times he's apparently been tortured or the fact that he's always preparing to watch people around him die ... Yes, okay, I paid a lot of attention to Jenkins this season, what can I say? Heh. Him and Eve, I'm really liking this partnership thing they have, supporting each other as they support the Librarians. I like it lots. I kind of want her to rescue him from something. Jenkins h/c with Eve as rescuer, yes, I want that a lot.

Um. Anyway. Coming back from my id for a minute, I'm liking this season. I just like this show. Heh.
