This is possibly incredibly pathetic of me. But Arch_Schatten just told me who died in recent DC unpleasantness, which I had missed because I have bugger all contact with current canon. And ... and ... Damn it all to hell! I'm grieving, and I'm going to let myself grieve, because fictional character or not, he meant something to me! And because saying I'm not would be a lie, when my keyboard is still drenched.
