I know, I know! I should stop trying. But before I log off for the night, I thought I'd put this one up.
Dark Prince
He stood before them
A sear and savage beauty
Dark prince, enslaved
As all the world did know
A captive hawk, his darkling eyes
As silent as the sky
A bitter smile, unflinching
A lock without a key
But in the quiet of his mind
The hollow behind his eyes
A deeper heart, a deeper hope
As rich and proud as woe
They loved him gently in their way
Ignored his silent song
Strong as victors, faceless
His pride not theirs to see
Turned away from war's embrace
Sure they were complete
Turned until his final smile
The last they were to know
They found him in their sacred heart
His hands around their liege
They slew him as he stood entranced
Bloodied, silent, free
For a heart may sing in silence
And beauty's in the blood
Where love as deep as hate may live
And joy as sorrow flow.
*sigh* Feel free to hit me now.
