So, it was my birthday last Saturday. And I've sort of been saving solidly for two years, enough that I could basically afford to have three nights in a hotel somewhere away. Which ... well, tonight's my last night at said hotel, so that obviously went well :D

I went a little mad, I think. I went shopping. Five new books and two new DVD boxsets. That, um, that doesn't usually happen to me in a single sitting. Although, admittedly, two of those books were from a secondhand and a charity shop, and cost exactly 4.50 euros between them. So there's that. Heh. And one of the boxsets was the complete Thin Man movie collection, and the other was the first season of Fantasy Island, which I didn't even know could be got on DVD and so was an instant buy. I couldn't leave them, is what I'm saying.

I've been planning a break for a while. Given, you know, stuff. It's been nice to get away for the few days. I needed that, I think. Very weird, because I'm a miser at heart and almost had a panic attack after my shopping trip yesterday, but I did enjoy it.

Um. Yay, birthday present to me? *grins crookedly*

Hee! I got my birthday dinner today! Which, since we went to the local italian, meant heaven on a plate in the form of straccetti, a gorgeous beef and tomato dish, done with balsamic vinegar. Seriously. Heaven on a plate. I finished it too soon, but then my dad, in a supreme act of chivalry and self-sacrifice, gave me some of his. I'm not being faececious. I wouldn't have parted with any of mine, but he gave me some of his. *hugs* I love my dad. And my mum, and my family, and my poor cousin whom we traumatised with comparative female anatomy.

Also, I got shinies! Early, I know, and technically I should not have opened them until tomorrow, but it was fun anyway!
