For reasons that don't need getting into right now, I'm watching episodes of Mutant X (Ep1, youtube). Um, in short, I had a weird dream last night that was half the bad guy from this show, and half the white-haired scientist dude from Road Rovers (OP song, youtube), because my brain was in cheesy-mutant-superhero-show mode last night, apparently. *grins sheepishly*
Anyway! I was watching Mutant X, but every time they panned over the HQ for the evil Genomex Corporation, I kept going ... wasn't that the Center building, from Pretender? So I looked it up, and apparently it is, in fact, that building, and that building is apparently the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant in Toronto. Also known as the Palace of Purification, because in the 1930s they built water treatment plants to be impressive. *grins faintly*
It really does look like an Art Deco Supervillain Lair, just a touch. Heh. It's just one of those impressive buildings, I think.
