Somebody just showed me the CA: Civil War trailer. And, right now, there is only one thing I want to know:

WHAT. HAPPENED. TO. RHODEY!?!

For [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic. *shrugs faintly* And for some reason, between the two of them, I'm getting a Kali vibe. Heh. Shining like blue stones.

Title: Like Blue Stones
Rating: PG-13
Fandoms: Avengers movieverse, X-men
Characters/Pairings: Loki, Raven/Mystique. Loki/Mystique
Summary: "Don't," she said. "Don't hide it."
Wordcount: 450
Warnings/Notes: Hate, pain, prejudice, defiance. Them, basically
Disclaimer: Not mine

For a prompt on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic. I'm rapidly discovering a major, major soft spot for this pairing -_-;

Title: Hunger
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Avengers movieverse
Characters/Pairings: Loki/Tony Stark
Summary: He has traversed space and countless worlds, but there are still some things that take his breath away
Wordcount: 554
Warnings/Notes: Loki ... is not a sane person, yes?
Disclaimer: Not mine

Hunger )
Um. More an AU concept sketch, really. But I've been reading a lot of movieverse fanfic of late. And I know bugger all about the canon (I've seen the Ironman movies, bits of Thor, bits of Captain America), but then I figured, I'd do what I always do with comics canons. I'd write an AU. Comics-based canons are great for that. Heh. So. Here's a concept sketch for a dark, vaguely Lovecraftian, clockpunk/steampunk movieverse AU:

Title: Order of the Shield - Engines of Light
Rating: PG-13, R?
Fandom: Avengers Movieverse, AU
Characters/Pairings: Captain Steven Rogers, Lord Anthony Stark, mentions of Schmidt, Zola, Howard Stark, Natasha Romanov, Nick Fury
Summary: Awakened from an icy, alchemical sleep, Captain Steven Rogers emerges into an Empire on the brink of war, and only a ragged few, perhaps monstrous all, to defend it. But before they can, he needs to understand his purported teammates, and bring them together. This quest starts with Lord Anthony Stark
Wordcount: 4293
Warnings: A very dark, even vaguely Lovecraftian, origin for the arc-reactor technology. Also, see above regarding my crushing lack of canon knowledge, yes? Feel free to correct that which AU does not excuse
Disclaimer: Not mine
Author's Notes: It may help to understand that the primary inspirations for this were Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy, and Charles Stross' Laundry series -_-;

Okay. So, in the sixteen hours or so waiting for my mother to come back from A&E, where I basically sat in the kitchen all night, I ended up blitzing through about 20 episodes of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Because I tend to gravitate to cartoons under stress. I've no idea why that particular cartoon (I think I bounced to it on a link, and then just stayed), but there you go.

It's the first time I've really watched/read anything involving the Avengers at all, being mostly a DC girl who strayed occasionally towards the X-men/Spiderman (admittedly, again, mostly in cartoon/film form - those and the 1970's TV version of the Incredible Hulk, which I'm given to understand doesn't count). So I was possibly a little surprised to find myself getting attached to Tony Stark/Ironman (possibly, it must be said, because the cartoon version of him in the black-and-glowy-stripe undersuit reminded me of both Jonny Quest and Tron, hence giving him nostalgia value by proxy). So then I went and bought the first Ironman film. In which I kinda wanted to punch him, but also wanted to pat him on the head, particularly during the build-scenes where he was having ridiculous amounts of fun playing with deadly machinery and being a total geek.

So. Randomly, mostly as a result of my mother going to hospital, I now have a tentative attachment to Tony Stark. And. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations (for fic, cartoons, comics - though they'll be hard for me to get - whatever) starring him? Particularly in geeky, gadget-building mode?

Um. Thank you? *grins sheepishly*

I'm just idly browsing through [livejournal.com profile] norse_kink, which seems to be primarily Marvel-based. I always more DC than Marvel, so I'm kinda mildly confused for a lot of it. Heh.

Just a quick question, though. I know someone probably explained this to me already, but just to clarify. In the Marvel Universe, Laufey is Loki's father, yes? Is this ... Does this involve weird genderbender shenanigans a-la Loki and Svadilfari, or did someone somewhere just get confused?
