Well, sort of. For [livejournal.com profile] ciaranbochna, who wanted Marcone and 'lost'. Not sure how close this managed, since it ended up as much or more about Butters -_-;

Title: Drumbeat In Tribute
Rating: PG-13

Again, just putting them here as they're finished. 5 sentence(-ish) ficlets apiece:

Dynamist (Miles Vorkosigan, Vorkosigan saga). For the prompts: Honour, Backwards, Adventure, Gold, Lightning. (I've only read two books, accuracy questionable)

Chiaroscuro (Harry Dresden and John Marcone, Dresden Files). For the prompts: Moonlight, Starlight, Sunlight, Candlelight, Streetlight. (Thematic, I rather enjoyed these ones)

Ragged Edges (Loki and Tony Stark, Avengers movieverse). For the prompts: Free fall, Scars, Frost, Dance, Future. (Edged and glittery, for some reason)

Men To Gods Shall Speak (Phil Coulson, Avengers movieverse). For the prompts: Trust, Faith, Loyalty, Honour, Belief. (Phil wanted to speak tonight, apparently)

Sparks in the Circuits (JARVIS, Avengers movieverse). For the prompts: Honour, Transient, Beauty, Dragons, Battle. (Not even remotely sentence fics. Lets all pretend JARVIS isn't my runaway favourite, yes?)
Wheel'n'Deal. The Dresden Files/Good Omens prompt fic that got slightly out of hand on me -_-;

From this meme. Posting here as they're completed:

Methos & Nikola Tesla (Highlander/Sanctuary), for [livejournal.com profile] oneiriad

Crowley & John Marcone (Good Omens/Dresden Files), for anonymous

Crowley & Tony Stark (Good Omens/Avengers movievers), for [livejournal.com profile] nihstel (only tiny, this one, for some reason)

JARVIS/TARDIS (Avengers movieverse/Doctor Who), for [livejournal.com profile] laeria (turned into a ficlet on me instead)

Nick Fury & J'onn J'onzz (Avengers movieverse/DC comics), for [livejournal.com profile] sablin27

Tony Stark & Harold Finch (Avengers movieverse/Person of Interest), for [livejournal.com profile] marbleglove

Crowley & Vimes (Good Omens/Discworld), for [livejournal.com profile] subsequent

Nanny Ogg & Queen Mab (Discworld/Dresden Files), for [livejournal.com profile] ciaranbochna
I was idly thinking about Highlander/Dresden Files crossovers, since apparently I'm in the mood to cross Methos into the Dresden Files universe. I've done Methos meets Michael Carpenter, Methos and The Archive across the aeons, and now Methos trolling the White Council, and I was idly wondering who else I'd like to see him encounter in the DF 'verse. *grins faintly*

The first two thoughts that popped into my head were him meeting:
a) Butters, because Methos dealing with Butters' resigned "For gods sake, I've had enough damned necromancy, can't you people pick a different morgue?" would be hilarious, and they could probably have some interesting discussions on medicine for the fantastic
and b) Murphy and Kincaid, because Methos on holiday in Hawaii finding himself in the middle of whatever made a romantic getaway between Murph and the Hellhould 'interesting' would, again, be damned funny (and kinda awesome).

The one I wouldn't want him to meet is Morgan, because that would end badly for him. Morgan is his equal in combat pragmatism (the man nuked a skinwalker when it became apparent that he couldn't beat it the old-fashioned way), his superior in power and range (got within yards of the Red King, was willing and possibly able to take on a zombie T-rex), and has exactly the kind of rigid morality to make any honest interaction between them fraught with danger. Of course, Methos could always lie to him, but generally speaking Morgan is exactly the kind of trouble Methos goes out of his way to avoid borrowing.

But, anyway! While I'm busy thinking of crossover encounters, why not a quick meme:

Give me two characters from different fandoms you know I'm familiar with, and I'll give you a dialogue happening between the two of them. Without justifying how the crossover would work, how their worlds clashed, or how they could even meet each other. Just a silly crossover conversation with no backstory, for fun.
Because I'm obviously in a cracky mood tonight, and for some reason I can never get enough of Methos making fools of people via ancient languages -_-;

Title: The Practical Applications of Linguistics

Fandom: Dresden Files/Highlander - the series

I've got some down, and about as much again to go, but I figured I'd link them here as they're done. Outlines (not fic) of fandom AUs as follows:

The Magnificent Avengers, an Avengers Western AU (Bruce).

Morte d'Arlecchino, a Dresden Files Commedia dell'arte AU (!).

Cryogeist, an Avengers cyberpunk dystopian AU (Steve).

Tyger Tyger, an Avengers Regency/Gothic AU (plus some minor thoughts in a GO/X-men crossover).

The Golden Age, an Avengers Mythology AU (global, not greek - russian, vodun, greek, norse, germanic and arthurian, primarily).

Avengers Infiltration Force, an Avengers heist/IMF/spy AU (everybody, but I'm liking Phil).

Do Androids Dream, an Avengers AU where Tony was Howard's 'greatest creation' in more than one sense, and Nick Fury knew.

Meme still open, I'm just adding these as they're finished.

5 Tony & Bruce ficlets (Avengers movieverse), for [livejournal.com profile] oneiriad. Bruce thinks Tony is mildly insane, I think.

5 John Marcone +/ Harry Dresden ficlets (Dresden Files), for [livejournal.com profile] marbleglove. John is a scary man, just so's you know.

5 Aziraphale/Crowley ficlets (Good Omens), for [livejournal.com profile] nihstel. Slightly more ... sensual? ... than my usual, I think. Heh.

5 Natasha & Bruce ficlets (Avengers movieverse), for [livejournal.com profile] sablin27. I, ah, have some small issues with them as a pairing, to warn.

5 Clint Barton ficlets (Avengers movieverse), for [livejournal.com profile] moonaft. Clint is my shakiest Avenger, to warn. *sheepish*

Yes, I'm spending a lot of time on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic lately. *smiles sheepishly* I'm very flighty at the minute, and short prompts are doing me good, I think. Heh. And today, I'm too sore to be up to much. Anyway. Today's theme is 42 words, as in ficlets of that length. So far:

Taking this one out of order. It just showed up quicker. *shrugs* And, again, more fic than ficlet. I'm bad at this whole 'short story' thing, aren't I?

Prompt: For [livejournal.com profile] subsequent, who wanted Harry and Crowley, meetings

Short thing. For a prompt by [livejournal.com profile] marbleglove over on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic, who wanted Methos and the Archive.

Read through Ghost Story again, and caught a little something that I only half picked up on the first time around. Just a tiny, random thing, but I'm just kinda chuffed that I actually got it. Heh.

It does make me wonder about Cas, though. And Aziraphale for that matter. Though I suppose neither Good Omens nor Supernatural put the same stress on the power of names that Dresden Files does, so it could be that. Still. Something to ponder.

There are too many Johns and Jameses in Fictionland! *grumps*

I only find this annoying, of course, because fanfic has hardwired my brain to hear certain names and go "Oh! Such and such a character! Yay!", even when we're talking about the butcher down the street. *grins sheepishly* But I hear John, or James, and suddenly there's about five or six characters waving their hands, and I get a little confused.

James is, by far, the worst, I think. James Norrington, James Watson, James West, James Tiberus Kirk ... But John is pretty bad too. John Druitt, John Watson, John Marcone ...

Okay, fair enough, two of those Jameses (? - what is the appropriate plural of 'James'?) mostly go by Jim, and the first I will ever and always think of as 'Jamie', because Sparrington has rotted my brain. John Watson is only a problem if we're dealing with Sherlock (BBC), because usually he's just 'Watson', and John Marcone is Gentleman Johnny if he's anybody (on a side note, I would love to see Gentleman Johnny meet Johnny Druitt, because that would be awesome, and also terrifying). But! Too many Js!

And lets not even get started on the Jacks. *grumps* And all of them, for some strange reason, are Captain Jacks. Aubrey, Sparrow, Harkness ...

One of these days I'm going to see Jack/James, and wonder what the hell Watson is doing letting those rum-soaked fingers anywhere near his mechanism, or James/John, and wonder how Druitt managed to time-travel to the 23rd century just in time to enter a ham-to-ham contest with Kirk (or how Watson ended up in Chicago, and how the dear detective is going to talk his way out of this criminal's clutches), or go somewhere into the strange, strange place that is Holmes canon crossed with Sanctuary, and my brain is, basically, going to break.

Or we could just do a James/Jamie/Jim/Jim/John/Johnny/Gentleman Johnny/Captain Jack/Captain Jack/Cap'n Jack crossover of DOOM, and have the universe collapse. What a way to go, right?

*groans* There are too many Js in fictionland. And a surprising number of them have rank. *grins* Thank Heavens there are only so many Nikolas and Artemuses and Stephens to go with them. Heh.

This piece of insanity brought to you by a very fried brain ...

I'm very caught up with Highlander at the minute, and reading [info]aeron_lanart 's series crossing it with TV-verse DF made me start thinking about ways the universes could fit together. Bookverse has always been my favourite, though. And then I remembered Michael, and how very much Methos needed helping after Bordeaux ...

Title:  Pale Knight
Chapter:  One
Rating:  PG-13
Fandoms:  Highlander: the Series, Dresden Files: bookverse
Continuity:  Immediately post CAH/Rev 6:8 for Highlander, somewhere after Grave Peril but before Small Favours for Dresden Files.
Characters/Pairings:  Michael Carpenter, Methos, Tarsiel (OC Denarian)
Summary:  Michael didn't know why he had ended up in Bordeaux. He only knew someone needed him, and fast. That someone, as he finds out, is like no-one he's met before.
Wordcount:  2054
Notes/Warnings:  Some violence. Not slash. Michael has Charity, after all.
Disclaimer:  Neither series belongs to me.
