One more random fanvid rec, while it's the season:

Glow by Chaila (DC Cartoons)

Justice League OT3 of Bruce/Clark/Diana, being awesome and brilliant and there for each other across years and continuities. It just makes me so happy. There's this big, glorious bubble in my chest when I watch this. Childhood heroes, you know?

My sister sent me this link on youtube, and they honestly cracked me up. Seriously. I've been cackling so much my Dad thought I'd gone insane, came out to see what the fuss was, and ended up cackling himself. Maybe it's just the night that's in it, but it's so simple and so hilarious. So, naturally, I thought I'd share.

Not festivids. My sister sent me a link to this last night/this morning, and I've been in tears every goddamn time I've watched since. Thanks for that. I showed my parents, and they've been in tears since. And I thought I'd share the ... I don't even know. Misery/love/grief/joy/emotion?

So. Have Carl & Ellie's story from Pixar's UP set to Alan Jackson's 'Remember When': Remember When

You're all welcome.

I did not get the job. I am still jobless. I have consequently scheduled tomorrow to be depressed and hermit-like in, and am spending tonight being very silly.

On the upside, I think I may have passed my first aid exam. Hopefully. So there's that.

To distract from my RL failings right now, have some random fanvid recs?

Okay, so, this awesome Star Trek vid just went up, and it is the best thing ever, so I had to rec it straight away:

Long Live by cosmic_llin (Star Trek, All Series)

This is my favourite Star Trek vid on the face of this or any planet. It's ... It starts with TOS, and then through tiny moments of individual connection starts to trace it's way up through the whole universe, then moves to favourite moments, and then hands the torch on to the newest Treks. From around the line "the end of a decade, the start of an age", I was nothing but a cooing, happy mess. Every time I watched it. It is the Trek vid, I swear to gods and warp engines. TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, a touch of ENT and AOS. Everything.

And then, since I was recommending vids, I figured I'd go through the favourites again. Here's another nine vids from various fandoms:

It's that time of year again. I've spent the past two days browsing around the Festivids 2013 Masterlist, first just to enjoy, then to make notes, and then, for the first year ever, to actually leave comments on stuff -_-; I'm a terrible person, but I tried this time, yes?

This was such a good year, though. Possibly I only say this because of the first rec under the cut, but still. Such a good year. Enjoy! ;)

I'm clearing out the favourite's bar again. I've spent a lot of the past week or so watching random vids and reading random OUAT fanfic, so I thought I might as well share some of the former? *shakes head at self* For some reason, most of these ended up either on a theme of 'random tropes across media' or 'angst magnet characters'? IDEK. The upside of this, though, is that there is a) a lot of meta-ish stuff and b) a lot of really pretty suffering in this vid set, if that appeals to anyone. Heh.

I love vidding season! *grins* I normally don't really know where to look to find vids (I tend to stumble across vidders and follow them or see if they've recced anything), but things like Festivids and Vividcon mean that suddenly lots of people are posting recs lists and stuff like that, and I can find a bundle of stuff all at once.

So, following the Vividcon splurge of vids, have some more random vid recs from around the place?

Keeping up my slow rewatch of the first three seasons of Airwolf, I watched 3x02 'Airwolf II' last night. *grins faintly* You gotta love 80s action shows, you know? You just gotta.

And leaving Airwolf for the minute, and switching genres rather radically, I've also been rewatching clips of Yes Minister on youtube, because sometimes you really just need a little Sir Humphrey in your life. Heh. He is so fantastically amoral and pragmatic and scarily on-point sometimes. For example:

The 80s had some pretty fabulous TV, you know that? Heh.

Okay. This is basically just a post of random vid recs because I need to clear out my favourites bar a little bit. They're not necessarily all objectively good, but they're all vids that I enjoyed and/or that made me thoughtful. Fandoms are all over the shop as well, to warn you, and there are a couple of cases where I fairly obviously trawled the backlogs of a couple of vidders. Heh. So. Have 19 vid recs in various fandoms?

... The thing I think I love most about Festivids? I get a bunch of new canons to go look for. *grins faintly* Recs from my first trawl through the 2012 masterlist as follows. And to warn, I know 13 of the 28 canons, whatever that tells you (that I don't mind spoilers, perhaps, and that I might have a different interpretation of the vids to someone who actually knows the canon). Heh.

So. I got linked to a Tron: Legacy fanvid, which is a little lost on me, since I haven't seen the movie (only the original Tron), but is fairly awesome regardless (and according to my sister, who has seen the movie, both awesome and really funny in places).

And I bounced from it through a couple of DW vids, onto a couple of Granada Holmes vids (I'd forgotten how much I loved Jeremy Brett as Holmes. Also, how occasionally ridiculous his Holmes was). And, actually, this one, by the same vidder as the Tron one, is awesome, and heartbreaking on some lines (Switzerland as 'the promised land', 'you never returned that call' as John is screaming over the falls), and so funny on others (to reiterate, Brett as Holmes was occasionally gleefully absurd, and both Watsons got in on it). I love this one for the sense of partnership, and for how much Holmes visibly needs Watson (quite a lot of vids/stories go exclusively the other way on that), and it's reciprocated.

And, um. Okay. While I'm in the mood. Anyone have any other fanvid recs? I've no preferences for fandom, I'm very fond of multifandoms, I don't even necessarily have to have seen the source (see T:L, above). *grins sheepishly* My only preference is for streaming, if at all possible (I don't download things, usually). Heh.

Anyone have any favourites?

I've no idea what show this is. I've no idea how I found the clip either. I just know that it's covered more keyboards in snorted caffeine in this house today than anything has in a while. *grins*

Burnistoun - Voice Recognition Lift

Linked because I can't embed to save my life. But seriously. This is ridiculous. *snickers helplessly*

Okay, so I realise I'm about a week behind everyone else in doing this. In my defense (or possibly not), I have to say that despite being on LJ for four years, this is the first time I've been aware of Festivids at all (I've never been really involved in the vidding end of fandom). But. This year I was, so I've spent the past week going through the 2011 masterlist, and these are the vids I kept coming back to. 12 fandoms, a surprising number of which I didn't previously know at all.

12 vids: )

Every so often my sister and I go browsing multifandom vids together, just, you know, for some downtime. It's kinda fun, even if she does have this inexplicable attraction to bad horror movies ... *grins*

She found this one: This One's For You. It's ... a good selection of fandoms, and lovely matching of roles to characters, and some nice slash hints, but ... To be honest, I mostly love it for one split-second thing at the end involving Susan Pevensie that only makes sense if you've read the books, and kicks you in the teeth. Although, for the record? Everything this vid does regarding LOTR, and probably also X-men, and the Inkworld trilogy, and the Mummy ... Though, really, Narnia and LOTR. It is worth it for what it does with those. (Faramir, okay? Also Boromir. Eowyn. Susan. Caspian. It rocks, yes?)

Also, this one: Let it Burn. Meditation (I think) on sacrifice, loss, and the costs and uses thereof - how much is the fight worth in the end? I'm missing a lot more fandoms for this one, but those I caught, I liked. Heh.

So ... Crappy horror movies aside, my sister actually has pretty good taste ... *grins faintly*
Some videos while I'm reviewing my youtube favourites. *grins*

I just refound this vid: Space Girl by Charmax76. And got immensely cheered up again. *grins* The women of sci-fi! Heh. Though mostly what I realised from watching it was that I've seen way, waaaay too much sci-fi in my day, which I suspect was not the main point. Heh. Of 47 sources, I've seen 26, and recognised another nine or so to look at. I'd forgotten that episode of the Outer Limits! The Man Who Was Never Born. Heh. I went on a bit of a Martin Landau spree following my introduction to Mission Impossible, couple of years back.

And this one, following her youtube account: Shawshank Redemption: I Shall Be Free. I think this song will be in my head for a week. Again. But it suits the movie so perfectly.

And now for something different: Anarchy by Balistik94. The Dark Knight, V for Vendetta, and The Crow. A very, very interesting drawing of parallels, makes me muse on how much of morality is dependant on context rather than actions. Plus, on a purely aesthertic level, I love how the editting mirrors body-language and moments across the three movies. (Warnings on this one for violence, it being, well, three fairly viciously violent anarchists)

And finally: The Endless Night: A Valentine to Film Noir by RubyTuesday717. I found this one on a random search for film noir, because I was in a mood, and the song immediately caught me. And then the editting. Moody and dreamy and vicious, interspersed with almost random violence, removed from context and made senseless. Film noir, in short. And the light and shadow ... I love so much of film noir. I really do. (Pacing and timing falter a bit here or there, but I love it anyway). And awesome choice of quotes, there. The ethos of the genre. Heh.
